Branding designs tells story of fashion business

Bobbins&Buttons-GreyHand drawn lettering creates a totally unique logo.

“Release Your Handmade” is a strap line I’ve written for a Leicester based children’s clothing label’s new branding design. It tells the story of a woman passionate about inspiring others to sew. She wants to unlock everyone’s sewing potential.
The brief was for a brand with a retro vibe. So I opted for yellow and grey as they seemed to capture the brand’s sophisticated retro vibe. A kind of classic yet retro french custard tart if you will. Fun yet classy! As you can see I am in need of cake as I write this post!

The hand drawn lettering on the logo is an integral part of the design. You can put a huge amount of expression into hand drawn lettering. The wonky edge of the lettering gives it a very real human touch which no computer generated typeface will ever touch – equally the spacing cannot be replicated by computer. It is very authentic.

bobbins-backgroundI’ve designed a brand pattern which has been used on the website as well as a logo and created a brand style which has also been used across marketing material, swing tickets and labels for this wonderfully quirky business. Bobbins & Buttons will go far with this as its baseline marketing material.
