Personal branding needs to express life force

Personal branding is a tricky thing to get right for the self employed business person. They need to express what they are about. Showing off is permitted as long as it is not ego lead and there is some self depreciation in there, exaggeration is a definite no go area. There must be truth in the mix somewhere. Personal styling is obviously relevant but your online presence needs thinking about as much as your next haircut or eyebrow shape. The tone of your social media, your style of photographs, your events advertising and your business communication is all part of your personal branding. Here at Well Street I analyse businesses and sometimes only need to make small changes to improve their client perception.

It feels to me much like looking at a subject for an artwork.

These pieces have been created from photographs I took of the hedgerows of central Brittany where I lived for 5 years.

The cow parsley totally fascinated me – the particular one I shot seems a very unusual soul. It is unlike any I have ever seen since – or maybe it was literally at the point that was just about to burst – maybe that split second of “boom” is hard to come across on a daily basis.

It is a wild plant which fills our hedgerows with blowsy craziness. Even though I suspect it makes me sneeze I still adore it. It is filled with new life as its seeds spread far and wide after it has died. Seems like a great metaphor for family, life and creativity.

I took the photos in my sun filled living room which has always made a great photo studio and then added ink later. They needed time to brew first.

How could you express yourself digitally? What imagery reflects who you are or how you feel about the world?

Let me know if you want a hand with self expression.
