#MondayMotivation – Well Street Studio

#MondayMotivation is a great idea for a hash tag, it is an example of social media use at its best point.

“An idea without belief lacks promise”.

The words have been buzzing round in my head for days. I have been trying to work out what it is I do as I realise I am having to go on and on and on (which I am prone to do) in order to make new clients (or even perplexed friends!) understand what I do.

A friend of mine said recently;

“Well I’ve never really understood what it is you actually do”

I stood open mouthed surrounded by artworks, photographs, sketch books, bursting portfolios and walls heaving with work.

I realised she was right – I’d preached onto everybody else but hadn’t actually spent enough time doing my own branding. I guess it’s the builder living in an unfinished house syndrome! I hadn’t had enough belief in my own brand to be able to show it to the world. No wonder I’ve struggled to get everyone to see what I can do!

Just for the record I realise I am advertising/creative (I have a head full of ideas; some say crazy, some say brilliant), artist/illustrator and designer. I can feel an infographic coming on!

I realise I only have to look to my heroes (Milton Glaser, Bailey, Warhol, Banksy) to realise that they were all masters of their fields but were all true creatives. It was about the idea as much as the art form.

You have to believe in yourself first.

I’m off to crack on with new marketing campaign!

Thankyou to all those who have helped this to finally happen – you know who you are! x
