What is it all about? Come and chew the art fat! #Advertising #Art #Exhibition

wss-art3What is art? Is art an unmade bed? Is art a child’s drawing in a silver frame? Is art an eloquently phrased speech? Is art a band performing in a field on a summer’s day? Is art advertising? Is art a garden full of flowers?

wss-art2Maybe art is whatever an artist has the courage to declare as his or her art. Maybe the declaration is a war cry, a scream of intent. A brave, naked ambition that allows the artist to finally declare who they are.

I have put my artist’s ego in a large sealed box and decided it is time to stop procrastinating and get on with it. My recent work will be the beginning of who I want to be. I will create art to commission or art for the sheer hell of it – it is all the same to me. My art could be used to advertise your latest product, it could simply be hung on a wall, I want it to be an expression of who you are.

All of my work comes from my branding brain. I work out what things are about and then work how to express them. This has millions of applications. I am at my heart an artist, but in my head an illustrator. What fun we could have!

wss-art1I hope you make it in the last weekend of June to my open studio. It would be great to see you and chew the art fat! Or even just discuss the weather! It’s all art to me!

I am sharing the shop we have been kindly leant by Signs and Graphx for the weekend with Sue Johnson; an Uppingham based collage artist. Her pieces are textiles led in comforting colours. Our work should rub along nicely together.

All of the images are from my latest collection.

What is your art? Come along. Lets see if we can work it out.

wss-art4We’re open from 10.00 until 4.00pm on Staurday 27th & Sunday 28th June at Signs and Graphx, (the old Elephant Room shop – all the elephants have left the building sadly – opposite Tescos), 61 South Street Oakham LE15 6BG.
